Learn more about Mesquite’s parks and keeping fit at this free seminar

As part of its ongoing effort to recover from COVID-19, Mesquite is hosting a forum to discuss its parks and how they can be used for a healthy urban lifestyle.

The virtual forum, part of the city’s Community Health Forum Series, will take place on July 27 at 7:00 p.m. It focuses on health and fitness resources available throughout the city as part of the national park and recreation month.

Panellists will share information about parks, trails, facilities, programs and services in the city that can be part of a healthy lifestyle.

“Our local parks were essential for many in our community to stay active during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Elizabeth Harrell, director of parks and recreation, in a press release. “We want to introduce the public to other areas of our department that can also help to stay physically and mentally healthy.”

Mesquite currently has more than 80 parks and facilities and approximately 1,600 acres of parkland. The city also has more than 27 km of hiking and biking trails, one of which will soon be connected to nearby towns.
