LINEUP NOTES, pres. by UnitedHealthcare: FC Dallas vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC | 9.25.21

Central defender
Ferruzzi chooses the pairing of captain Matt Hedges and Bressan in central defense. It’s Bressan’s first start since August 22, when he sustained a shoulder injury that forced him out of four games before returning to the bench last weekend. It is the second consecutive start of Hedges and the 14th overall appearance of the year.

Acosta
Bryan Acosta starts alongside Facundo Quignon in a midfield colon in front of the Dallas defense. It is Acosta’s first start since August 22, when he played 90 minutes against Houston Dynamo FC. The Honduran has come on for the last three games, including a 45-minute game in Dallas’ final game.

Bricklayer
Goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer returns to the starting line-up for the first time in five games. The 32-year-old last competed in the Texas Derby on August 22, before missing a month with a hamstring injury despite being on the bench twice during that time. Kyle Zobeck is behind Maurer on the bench as the usual number 2, Phelipe, couldn’t travel to Vancouver due to a visa problem.
