The new Grapevine Peace Circle has 11 bronze statues of Sam Houston, Indian chiefs

Long before the Republic of Texas settled in what is now Grapevine, various Indian tribes lived on the land for many years. Then in 1843, on what is known as the Grape Vine Prairie, 10 Native American chiefs and captains met with President of the Republic of Texas Sam Houston in a spirit of peace, friendship, hope and trust. That meeting would eventually lead to the signing of the Bird’s Fort Treaty.

To commemorate this historic event, the city of Grapevine unveiled a new public art installation called the Peace Circle in front of Grapevine Central Station on September 18th.
