What You Need To Know To Get To The State Fair Of Texas
Thanks to DART and other public transport, it is easy to get to the state fair. Here are some tips on how to get to the fairgrounds and how to navigate all of the fun food and entertainment options once you arrive.
Get a card first
The DART site has an interactive map on its site as well as a downloadable PDF version.

Pay your fare
Mobile Pay and contactless card payment options make purchasing a plan easier. You can buy train passes at the train stations. Bus tickets are available on the bus. All details about tariffs, passes and more can be found here.
How to Buy:
- Credit or Debit Card: Now you can purchase your DART Pass using a contactless credit or debit card. Simply tap your contactless card on a reader on a DART Rail platform or bus before boarding.
- Mobile device: With Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay, tap a reader on a DART Rail platform or bus with your solvent mobile device to purchase your pass.
- GoPass® app: Download the latest version of the app for free from the App Store or Google Play. Just be sure to activate your DART pass before boarding.
- GoPass® Tap Card: GoPass Tap is the rechargeable public transport card available at 7-Eleven and hundreds of participating retailers that automatically gives you the best fare every time you travel. Simply tap your card on a reader on a DART Rail platform or bus before boarding and your fare will be automatically deducted. (Note: GoPass Tap cards are only valid for local fares. GoPass Tap cards are not valid for journeys on TEXRail, DCTA or Trinity Metro.)
Buy a Local Day Pass for $ 6, which is valid for DART Rail, local buses and traveling on the TRE from CentrePort / DFW Airport Station. Tarrant County and Denton County customers require a $ 12 Regional Day Pass.
Details are available at DART.org/StateFair or by calling DART Customer Information at 214-979-1111.
Directions to the exhibition center
You can also take the DART Rail Line to Fair Park Station or MLK Jr. Station – both will take you straight to the exhibition center.
Tarrant County folks can take the Trinity Railway Express to the DART Rail Green Line in Dallas.
Denton County folks can take the Denton County A train and transfer to DART’s Green Line at Trinity Mills. Click here for travel information. Please note: the A train does not run on Sundays.

Tips for navigating the fair
Download the visitor guide. You’ll be glad you did. The digital travel guide includes maps, schedules of where to find what foods – basically everything you want to see, do and eat. You can download the map to your phone or browse the website.
Cards, cards & more cards.
The new digital maps are a must to find your way around and not miss anything. Meal cards can guide you to all the goodies, even the new ones. The printable card is colorful and helpful, especially if you have the little ones with you.
Find out what to bring (and what not). You can find out everything you need to know in the FAQ section of the website. Car for the kids? Secure. Pets? No. Do some research before you go.
Save money with discounts.
Thrifty Thursdays are best value for money as they sell a select menu at a discounted price. From Monday to Friday there are also ticket discounts.
