10 Covid-19 cases identified on New Orleans-bound cruise ship

All crew members and passengers are fully vaccinated and all 10 cases are asymptomatic, the cruise company said in a statement.

“Governor John Bel Edwards, the Louisiana Department of Health, the City of New Orleans and the Port of New Orleans are aware and are working closely with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to amend existing COVID-19 agreements and protocols with the cruise line, “announced the city in a press release on Saturday.

Wade Berry said he was on the ship with three friends to celebrate his recovery from cancer, but he didn’t hear about the positive cases until he read the New Orleans Mayor’s statement sent to him by his sister.

Everyone on board was tested on Saturday while the ship was still at sea, Berry told CNN as he traveled from New Orleans to his home in Dallas on Sunday.

“We’ve been on two cruises before this one and didn’t have to take any. It was very shocking and completely out of the blue.” Berry said he thought it was because of new government regulations that require testing.

Saturday night: “Everything was normal,” he said. “The show went on and the bars were open. Everything was normal.”

When he asked the ship’s medical team about the cases, he was told that if he tested positive he would have been notified and isolated.

“I think you should have told us something,” he said.

Passengers were given a test they could take at home in three days, Berry said.

New Covid-19 cases in the United States now average more than 100,000 a day shortly after millions of Americans traveled for Thanksgiving. The seven-day moving average of new cases was 121,437 on Saturday, according to Johns Hopkins University. Ahead of this week, the US last exceeded 100,000 cases per day in early October.

Cruises were a Covid disaster. Now he claims

Norwegian Breakaway left New Orleans on November 28 with 3,200 people and made stops in Belize and Mexico. According to the cruise line’s official website, the ship was scheduled to return to New Orleans on Sunday.

The shipping company adheres to the relevant quarantine and isolation protocols, says the message. Everyone who leaves the ship will be tested for Covid-19. Anyone who tests positive for the virus must either drive home in a personal vehicle or self-isolate in cruise line accommodations.

“We take this matter very seriously and will continue to work closely with the CDC, the office of Governor John Bel Edwards, the Louisiana Department of Health and the city and port of New Orleans,” said Norwegian Cruise Line.

The shipping company announced that nothing had changed in the planned voyages of the ship.

“We will provide the affected guests with additional updates if necessary,” said Norwegian Cruise Line.
