1. Dallas’s fast growing neighbor holds the title of No. 1 in the US real estate market, a report said. For one metric at least, the Dallas housing market is 100 degrees Celsius in the summer. A study published Aug. 24 by WalletHub personal finance website ranks four cities in North Texas among the top 10 most attractive real estate markets in the U.S. Frisco ranks first, with McKinney fourth, Denton fifth, and Allen first No. 6.
2. Dallas Police Department releases video of the arrest of Allen West’s wife. On August 20, the Dallas Police Department released video footage of the high profile arrest of Angela West, wife of Allen West, who is running for governor of Texas. Angela West was arrested on August 20 on suspicion of DWI after being seen driving erratically in the car with her grandson. After her arrest, Allen West went on the offensive, accusing the Dallas police of making a false arrest.
3. Bravo cuts Real Housewives of Dallas’ “Jesus Juice” after 5 oversaturated seasons. The Real Housewives of Dallas are warmly invited to return to the party. Bravo shut down the show after five seasons. Last season – filmed and broadcast amid the COVID-19 pandemic, economic crisis, racial billing and the deeply divided political landscape – the show had gone upside down in ways it couldn’t really recover from.
4. Mi Cocina moves out of the West Village in Uptown Dallas after 20 years. Mi Cocina’s Uptown Dallas location is leaving its West Village location after nearly 20 years and will be moving down the street to another location nearby. The Tex-Mex home, which opened in the West Village in 2002, moves to 3232 McKinney Ave. AKA where Del Frisco’s Grille is currently located.
5. Big Texas Airport Named Best, Cleanest Airport in the US Traveling can be difficult lately, and choosing a good airport for a layover or change of planes can be more important than ever. Both airports in a major Texas city have just received high accolades in a prestigious global ranking. The George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston is the No. 1 airport in the United States according to the Skytrax 2021 World Airport Awards.
