SMU men’s hoops releases non-conference schedule, including matchups with Oregon and Mizzou

The SMU men’s basketball team released its non-conference schedule on Thursday, announcing street games with Oregon and New Mexico, as well as home games against UNLV, Dayton and Vanderbilt, among others.

Missouri and Florida State, two of the teams SMU will face at the Jacksonville Classic, and Oregon are the only teams on SMU’s non-conference list that made it to the NCAA tournament field a year ago. SMU will also face Loyola Marymount at the Jacksonville Classic.

The Mustangs, an 11-6 team that lost in the first round of the NIT last year, will begin their non-conference schedule against McNeese State on November 9th. They will then travel to Eugene to face Oregon three days later.

After the Jacksonville Classic in late November, the SMU will return home to play six of the last seven games. New Mexico on December 19th will be the lonely road trip in this section.

The American Athletic Conference schedule includes 18 home and away games for the SMU against each conference team except two. The Mustangs will play a home game with UCF and travel to East Carolina.

The conference tournament begins March 10th at the Dickies Arena, Fort Worth.
