Tyron Smith looks like he’s going to be playing on Sunday.
FRISCO, Texas – A Dallas Cowboys team spokesman announced Friday that Tyron Smith received an MRI on his throat on Thursday and that the results were “favorable”.
Smith spent most of the 2020 season recovering from neck surgery to address an issue that had persisted in previous seasons. Head coach Mike McCarthy confirmed Friday that some type of neck problem “emerged in the office” on Thursday and that, given Smith’s history, it was “a breeze” to schedule an MRI.

“Of course we’re just clever with his story,” said McCarthy.
Smith had limited attendance on Thursday. The Cowboys will have a quick training session on Saturday before heading to New England and Smith is expected to be listed as “questionable” in the pre-game injury report on Friday.

FRISCO – Around this time last year, as a member of the Indianapolis Colts, Malik Hooker was beginning recovery from a ruptured Achilles tendon.
A year later, Veteran Security is back to normal, adding to a formidable start to the revamped Cowboys Defense.
“This is probably the best thing I’ve felt in a long time, both playing and physically. It’s like I’m back out there and having fun again, ”Hooker said on Friday. “… So that I am finally back to where I am now, mentally, emotionally and physically, I couldn’t ask for anything better.”
The cowboys enlisted Hooker at the beginning of the training camp and he gradually returned to practice. Hooker is active for each of the last four games and has 12 tackles (one for loss) and one pass breakup in the secondary rotation. His playing time has increased steadily, except for around 50% of the snaps in last Sunday’s win against the Giants.

Should the cowboys consider trading for an experienced CB?
FRISCO – Let’s call this the “anatomy of a rumor” after all. But let’s first get to the idea that the Dallas Cowboys are planning an NFL trade for Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Joe Haden.
A team source tells me that the Cowboys are not currently doing this sort of business and have not spoken to the Steelers about Haden.
That doesn’t mean Dallas couldn’t and shouldn’t be a buyer before the November 2nd NFL trading deadline. At 4-1 and this weekend to New England with the chance to take control of NFC East, it makes sense to prepare for a title run.
With that in mind, another team source reminds me to “never say never never”. But this is not a confirmation of any current movement, just a general opinion.
Where does this “rumor” come from?
I first became aware of Cowboys fans who referred me to a tweet from something called “Notoriety Sports Network” that posted this:
“Reports: The Cowboys contacted the Steelers about the acquisition of CB Joe Haden, who is entering the final year of his current contract in Pittsburgh.”

This week the Dallas Cowboys Compete against another fast / deep threat receiver in Nelson Agholor. That type of receiver was a problem at times for a given cowboys cornerback at the start of the season, and knowing about who New England Patriots, they will do everything in their power to get this one-on-one match this week. Because of this, Anthony Brown is our sixth week under the radar player.
In the first week of the 2021 season, Brown was cooked for a 47-yard touchdown pass by Antonio Brown, and in total, Brown abandoned eight completes for 127 yards on nine goals, a completion percentage of 88.9%. Then against them Carolina Panthers and her fast receiver DJ Moore, Brown, abandoned seven deals for 107 yards on 13 targets, a percentage of 53.8% according to Profootballreference.com advanced defense statistics. If you compare him to the other two cornerbacks the Cowboys started in Trevon Diggs and Jourdan Lewis, you see a trend.

Still, the cowboys in general, and Amari Cooper in particular, have been given a rare opportunity. You usually don’t go back to the scene for eight years when you talk about NFC teams playing in AFC stadiums. They just don’t compete that often. But Sunday’s New England game is a product of the league’s new 17-game schedule. Each NFC East team plays on the street against the AFC East club, which ended in the same position in 2020.
While the Washington Football team has already traveled to Buffalo to be beaten up, Dallas is heading to New England to take on a rookie quarterback and a very different team than the one that beat them 13-9 two years ago Cowboys scored The Final Season of Jason Garrett.
Cooper took his only zero with Dallas that afternoon. No catches, no yards. In fact, Stephon Gilmore caught more of Dak Prescott’s passports intended for Cooper than Cooper did.
“I haven’t thought of that yet,” Cooper said this week. “That is past. They don’t really have the same people who covered me during the game. ”
Gilmore was actually traded to Carolina two weeks ago, although he is currently in the injured reserve anyway. Cooper’s brain is full of chess strategies and Rubik’s Cube algorithms, so it makes sense that he sees no real connection between his uncomfortable experience from the last trip to Foxboro and the game on Sunday. But while both the Cowboys and Patriots have seen massive line-up changes since that competition two years ago, there are reasons to watch Cooper and see if his game goes through some necessary changes.
The Cowboys are 4-1 and don’t fly that far down the road high up in the NFC East with thoughts of playoff successes. But they still have to become a successful road team to achieve this, and it doesn’t matter if their itinerary looks pretty comfortable. It’s silly to think that losses are impossible in New England or Minnesota, or Kansas City in particular, and that’s where an improved Cooper comes in.

New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones has certainly impressed his share of players, coaches, media and fans in the first five games of the 2021 NFL season. While the Pats first round pick was far from perfect this season, he has consistently exuded confidence and command at the forefront of the Pats offensive. It will take equal, if not more, effort and a positive attitude to lead New England to victory over the formidable Dallas Cowboys this Sunday.
The word “order” seems to be synonymous with Jones lately. Speaking to reporters Thursday, Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy praised the maturity and demeanor of Pats ‘young quarterback by using “command” multiple times in his description of Jones’ abilities:
“I think he looks very, very comfortable, confident and commanding,” McCarthy said of Jones. “It doesn’t look like they are [Patriots coaching staff] hold back something. (He) can do all the throws, so I think he’s got a great start. “
Despite being 2-3 years old for his first five games of the season, Jones is indeed off to a great start to his NFL career. In fact, he’s quickly becoming one of the most accurate rookie passers-by in recent times. The 23-year-old now has 135 degrees, linking him to Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow for most rookie quarterbacks in his first five starts in NFL history. He shows a high degree of accuracy and completes just over 71 percent of his passes in the season; including a 78 percent graduation rate on Sunday against the Texans. Jones was also quite efficient outside of the game, where he made 9-of-11 passes, averaging 11.6 yards per attempt. Perhaps his most impressive statistic in week five was his conversion rate of 70 percent (7 out of 10) on the third decline.
